Capture a pre-authorization

Capture a pre-authorization in the Self-Care Portal.

To complete a pre-authorization, you need to capture it. To capture a pre-authorization, you need the order ID of the pre-authorization.

Step 1: Locate the order ID

  1. On the side menu, select Customers, and then select PayByLink.
  2. Locate your pre-authorization.
  3. From the Action column, select , and then select Payment History.

Step 2: Capture the pre-authorization

  1. On the side menu, select Virtual Terminal, and then select Pre-Auth Completion.
  2. In the OrderID field, enter the Order ID of the pre-authorization you want to capture.
  3. On the pre-authorization, select Complete.

  1. (Optional) To change the amount you want to capture, change the dollar amount in the Amount field.
  2. Select Continue.
  3. Select Complete
    Note: You can process the transaction as a sale if the pre-authorization has expired or if the capture amount is more than the pre-authorization amount.
  4. The Self-Care Portal asks you to confirm that you want to capture the transaction. Select OK.

The Self-Care Portal redirects you to your open batch where you can see your transaction in the batch.
