Repeat payments

Self-Care Portal

A repeat payment is a payment that you collect from a customer on a recurring basis. To collect repeat payments from customers, you can use the Self-Care Portal to create subscriptions. A subscription instructs our gateway to collect payments from a customer by card or bank transfer.

Before you can create a subscription, you need the following:

  • Stored subscription – A stored subscription is a template that defines the billing behavior, such as price, payment frequency, and billing method. You can apply the template to one or more subscriptions.
  • Secure token – A secure token represents a customer's saved payment details. You use a secure token to collect payments from a customer instead of sending the customer's payment details each time. You can create a secure token from a customer's card details, bank account details, or an existing transaction.

After you create a stored subscription and a secure token, you can create a subscription to collect repeat payments from a customer. Our gateway then uses the subscription details to automatically collect each payment from the customer. You can also choose to manually collect each payment through the Virtual Terminal in the Self-Care Portal.

Note: You can configure the subscription settings to control how you handle failed and missed payments. For more information, go to Configure your subscription settings.
